Welder

Fowler Construction is actively seeking an experienced Welder to perform various types of welding and fabricating on heavy trucks and related construction equipment.

Key Duties:

• Inspect, repair and fabricate units.
• Inspect for obvious signs of wear and/or damage.
• Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
• Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and streamline work processes.
• Diagnose defects in heavy equipment.
• Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
• Accurate completion of work orders and timecards.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Complete work with attention to detail to produce a quality product.
• Clean, inspect and perform other maintenance work as per MTO Regulations.
• Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
• Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
• Other mechanical repair work as required.
• Conduct yourself in a professional and mature manner.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Welding license is a definite asset.
• Able to design and retrofit ploughs, harnesses, salter boxes, etc.
• Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical.
• Computer literate or working towards computer literacy.
• Strong organizational skills with clear communication abilities.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
• Must be able to stand, lift 50 lbs., carry, bend, reach.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work Conditions:

• Travel to various sites may be required.
• Overtime, evening and weekend work may be required.
• Safety equipment will be required such as safety boots, hearing protection and safety glasses.
• Indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
