Project Manager - Water and Sewer

Fowler Construction is accepting applications for a Water and Sewer Project Manager to manage and oversee underground projects from start to finish; providing direction, and guidance to supervisors, technical staff, subcontractors, and labourers to ensure projects are safe and productive. In this role you will be responsible for cost controls, productivity, financial reporting, resolution of contractual issues, subcontractors and supplier relations, communication, and payment for work completed.

Key Duties:

  • Manage, schedule, organize, and provide technical support to various construction projects in accordance with OHSA, Fowler H&S policies and project requirements.
  • Ensure projects are managed safely and documentation of all safety initiatives is done in a timely manner.
  • Manage the profitability of each job by ensuring cost management and crew productivity.
  • Successfully meet and manage project deadlines and requirements.
  • Manage, direct, and monitor overall performance of your project ensuring efficiency, high quality, service, and profitability for Fowler; reporting of the same will be required to senior management.
  • Liaise and negotiate with onsite inspectors, owners’ representatives, enforcement offices and the public.
  • Manage the project team to ensure all work is in accordance with contract specifications, drawings, and budget.
  • Responsible for ensuring that daily diary and paperwork is prepared accurately and submitted as required.
  • Manage positive working relationships with your team of Fowler employees. Actively work to educate, develop, and provide feedback to support your teams’ growth and development.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working as a Project Manager overseeing underground, water and sewer projects.
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional organization skills: the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet competing deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills –negotiating, relationship building, conflict resolution, leadership.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Sitedocs).

Work Conditions:

  • Travel to various sites will be required.
  • Office working environment with site visits as required.
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance will be provided.

Wage is commensurate with experience.

Fowler Construction is seeking a 310T Mechanic or Apprentice to perform repairs and maintenance on heavy trucks, earth moving, and related construction equipment including road graders, gasoline and diesel-powered tractors, and dump trucks.

Key Duties:

  • Conduct yourself in a professional and mature manner.
  • Receive work assignments in the form of oral and written work orders and determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.
  • Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components.
  • Inspect, repair, and adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units.
  • Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
  • Diagnose defects in heavy equipment.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
  • Operate automotive servicing equipment, e.g. A/C recycler, etc.
  • Install new and added-on equipment.
  • Perform electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Accurately complete work orders and timecards.
  • Repair cooling, and lubrication systems.
  • Install and align engines and machinery.
  • Repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains and final drives.
  • Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
  • Instruct apprentices or receive instruction as an apprentice.
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
  • Perform vehicle inspections as per CMVIS standards.
  • Review and educate apprentice mechanics, or become familiar as an apprentice, of the safe operation of licensed vehicles as per CMVIS.
  • Other mechanical repair work as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training is preferred.
  • Appropriate credentials and certifications – 310T license, or apprentice.
  • Computer literate or working towards computer literacy.
  • Strong organizational skills with task prioritization, use of timelines and time management techniques, and clear communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Complete work with attention to detail to produce a quality product.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
  • Must be able to stand, lift 50 lbs., carry, bend, reach.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Work Conditions:

  • Work in a shop environment; travel to various sites may be required.
  • Safety equipment will be required such as safety boots, hearing protection and safety glasses.
  • Indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
  • Weekend and overtime work may be required.
